Dinner at Ohana...
For my birthday, we headed to Ohana's a Japanese Steak house. One of my favorite places to eat. The little guys had not eaten here before and Jas and I were excited for them to see the "show" that the chef puts on. We weren't disappointed. They both loved every minute of it!!

A picture of my boys all dressed up. They look so handsome! Jack even wore his best cap (not a green one with a 7!)

This was Sam's card. It was titled "A Day Scrapbooking." The cartoon says:
Me: What are you working on?
the other SBer: A heritage album.
Me: Same here!
SB: How far have you gotten?
Me: 3 pages!
SB: I've gotten 6 pages done since the 1970's!
Me: Well, that explains the hippie hair band!
Isn't that hilarious!!!

A St. Patty's Day Outfit...
All four of us headed to the mall to get a few needed items. Sam asked to go to the Gap. (He was looking for some new cool t-shirts. I actually did a little happy jig to celebrate that one of the boys wanted to go to a store!!)

Ew. Nothing like adding silk athletic shorts to the mix.
He actually said, "I think this looks good together!"
Next...

Oh my. Jack told us he didn't think the stripes looked that good. Yep, buddy, it's just the stripes. This was about the time that Sam came out of the other dressing room, "OH JACK! What is up with all the green! EWWW!" I looked at Sam, "That was subtle."

This was the outfit that Jas and I encouraged him to get...no such luck. Guess there wasn't enough green.

Finally, Jack came out with this little number. He loved that the 7's matched! This green hurts my eyes, but we had been at this for a least 20 minutes! Jas and I said, "You've got yourself a winner!" So off we went with a green 7 hat and a green 7 shirt. I told him that I want to see him wear this 7 hat every day! That was a mistake!
Of course, Jack couldn't be left out, so he decided that this was the perfect time to find a St. Patty's Day outfit...

He went around the store and picked up anything green and headed to the dressing room...

He wanted this hat soooo bad and was trying to find a shirt to match. This was the first outfit. A nice somewhat nasty green color t-shirt with a the cap. Ouch on the eyes. Jas and I told him to try on the next outfit...

A Few Stories...
Sam brought home a story that he wrote at school...
Catchy title..."I can't wait to hear this one!" I shared with him! He started to read...
The story begins how he made himself and English muffin for breakfast and how fabulous it tasted. Then I made him one. He goes on to explain this tasty sensation that I created...
"...Only this time it (the English muffin) didn't taste the same. It tasted burnt...It tasted like it was put outside on the hottest summer day and just left to catch on fire!"
He continues...
" "Yuck!" I yelled so loud that I bet I could have woke up people in China!...my mom asks me what is wrong. I told her with, a mouth full of hard, burnt English muffin, "My English muffin is burnt!" It smelled like smoke from an actual fire! ....I asked my mom if I could spit it out. But she said in a tone, "Sam. No. You can swallow it." I closed my eyes and held my nose and held my breath, I tilted my head back. I swallowed. I didn't taste anything buy my insides hurt like I got thrown into a sumo wrestler and then thrown off the wall."
He goes on to share...
"I took some deep breathes and felt better. Like I was in a terrible accident and nursed back to health."
He finishes the story:
"I put my dishes in the sink and headed upstairs to continue my day. I then learned to NEVER let my mom make my English muffin again!"
After reading, he looked over at me....and just smiled.
"Thanks for sharing that story with me, Sam. You used great adjectives."
And now a few words from Jack..
"I saw a hippie. He had a flower. He had very long hair. He has bell bottoms on. Hey you! Look at this hippie; Can you see the peace mark (on the hippie.)"
A close up of Jack's hippie. Can you see the peace mark and the flower? Check out his long hair and those bell bottom jeans just crack me up!
This is one he wrote in August.
"When mom was mowing, she ran over a snake."
I must say that the statement is correct, but the picture is far from accurate. Our lawn mower is a rider mower and when I ran over the snake, there was no smile on my face. Plus, I would never let my hair get THAT dark!
Another early writing:
"One day I went to the beach."
Again, the statement is correct, but the picture is what makes me laugh.
The picture is of Sam, in the blue trunks with red hair and very fair skin. Jack, on the other hand, is in green trunks, dark hair, MUSCLES (bulging I must say) and a TAN!!
These stories are definitely in the perspective of the writer!

Chimpanzees...
Jack brought home the book "Chimpanzee: Oscar and Freddy" from the school book fair. It's the perfect book for him - he can read it himself AND it is about monkeys...Jack's favorite animal. So, he read the book to me. When he was done reading, he suddenly began crying. "What's wrong, buddy?" I asked him..."Oscar lost him mom and that is so sad!"
In the story, a gang of sliver back chimps come and try to take over the territory that Oscar and his family had claimed. During the fight, though the book never tells, I think that Oscar's mom is killed. The book just says that Oscar, who is three, lost his mother. The "happy" part of the story is that Freddy, the leader of Oscar's family, begins to take care and raise Oscar, which is rare for a Chimp leader to do.
The other evening, the boys and I were watching TV and the movie trailer for Chimpanzee came on, so the three of us turned to the TV to watch the trailer, which none of us had seen.
You can watch the trailer yourself...
Suddenly, I hear this terrible howl! Sam and I look over at jack...who is SOBBING HUGE crocodile tears! "Jack...what's wrong?" Jack howled, "He lost his mom and that is so sad...and he is alone!!" Oh my goodness!! I thought. (I must confess, I did get the giggles because he was SO upset. I looked over to Sam who was looking at Jack, with big eyes that where also filled with tears!) I went over and gave jack a big hug and said, "Oh you boys, I don't think we can go and see this movie." At that point, Jack tried to stop crying and choked out, "I...can...go...see...the..movie.....At least...the ....first ...half...."
Yea...I don't think so buddy.

Falling Out...
The boys are losing their teeth left and right. (and of course...guess who happens to be out of town!)

Sam lost his 11th tooth. I tried to get him to wrap dental floss around the tooth and the pull the floss tight. ( I heard that is the way to pull teeth without any pain.) That didn't work. Meaning he never got the dental floss out of the cupboard!

He came in EARLY the next morning...before it was even time to think about getting up..."MOM! I LOST MY TOOTH!"
I said, "Really? Great. Go back to be and don't come in here until eight zero zero (8:00.)" No, I didn't say that!!! I sat up and looked at the little white pearl in his hand. "How did it happen?" he went on to tell how he woke up, stuck his tongue under his tooth and it literally flipped out onto his pillow.
He still has 2 more to lose.
Jack has had a very loose tooth, too! He lost the tooth on the right. (He now has a reverse rabbit look.) He was biting on a stuffed animal and Sam yanked the animal out of his mouth...along with his tooth! He still has three more to lose.
What cracks Jas and I up is that the boys wait until the tooth is waving back and forth in their mouth while they talk, until they even consider having us LOOK at it.
