Carving Pumpkins...

Pumpkin carving is always interesting at our house. This year was no different.

Jack went to get his pumpkin and he was ticked. "MOM! You kept my pumpkin in the garage where it got all white, black and soft!!"  Yep, Jack's pumpkin was nasty and rotten.  Thank goodness we had made several trips to the pumpkin patch and had an extra pumpkin for Jack to carve.

Sam manned up and decided THIS was the year he was going to be able to help carve a pumpkin. Sam has not been able to participate with the pumpkin carving since he was a baby.  The first time he saw the guts of a pumpkin, he threw up.  At preschool, they carved pumpkins and Sam was in the front row and he threw up. I warned his first grade teacher when they were going to do a pumpkin carving activity.  he didn't throw up, but did watch the activity from a garbage can in the back of the room. So, needless to say, Sam has come a long way and THIS was going to be the year....

He took position...and opted for Jack to go first.

Jack put both hands right in...up to his elbows (gross!) and no gloves on to protect his hands!!!

Yep...he really didn't like the feel of all that stuff.

Nothing that a glove couldn't help!!

Sam's turn...He bravely put the "scoop" spoon into the pumpkin and out came a large glob of goo! He did it!!! And then he was done.

Go, Jack, Go!

Seriously?? Jack just has to rub it in to Sam!!

"That is so nasty, Jack!"  Sam sat down and couldn't watch the gore. Shortly after...he went inside.

Sam's pumpkin is an ISU football helmet.

Jack's is a Paul Frank monkey face.

Another "successful" pumpkin carving evening...thank you, Jason!!

Catching Up...Part 2, Try 2...

Yesterday's pictures didn't post, so I will try once again...

The boys got their school pictures.  Sam seems so grown up...sniff.

Jack wore his best tie...SO Jack!

Moose was out exploring in the woods and brought me this meaty number...(gag!)  Later that week she brought me another bone...a leg part.  All I can think of...is that there is more where that came from!

Jason and i went out to eat and I ordered birthday cake for dessert.  I was served and actual birthday cake!!  It was so dreamy...real butter cream frosting...yummy!!!

Jason I had to text a picture to Jack while we were out because he had text a picture of himself to us!

This is the picture that jack had text us...he was on a date with my mom at iHop!

Jason and I went and saw Bill Mahar...so awesome!

Sam enjoys a hot chocolate and reading the comics on a Sunday morning.

Megan and Jack went on a date to celebrate a success Jack had at school.  Jack dressed up again with his favorite shirt and tie!

Moose waved to her friend Esther!

Esther came over to hang out with Moose one afternoon.

Sam got new football gloves...his old ones were SO EXTREMELY SMELLY! I thought I could go one more week with the old gloves...I had soaked them in detergent and washed them and STILL when he got into he car after football practice they smelled so bad~ Sam even had to roll down his window they smelled so wrong!! (Sam has wanted pink football gloves for sometime.)

Catching Up...

The last couple of weeks have been CRAZY!! thought I would catch you up on a few happenings at our house....

The weather has been perfect for the boys to put on grubby clothes and play in the woods.

They have been busy building "houses" and bridges in the water-free ravine by our driveway.

On chilly mornings, Moose wants to go out, but prefers to lay in the garage on a warm blanket and watch the outside form the inside!

Jack had three front teeth...(ew)

and lost two of them, in one weekend! (thank goodness!)

Sam practiced guitar...

Moose has discovered the bridge by our house and has enjoyed adventuring across it and exploring on the other side (darn her!).  Two days in a row she brought me a bone...with meat on it. (gag) The only thing I kept thinking was that there is more where that came from!  Check back tomorrow for some more catching up photos!!

A Trip to the Patch with Nanny...

My mom saw my previous blog post and thought it would be the perfect place to get a few pumpkins of her own...so off we went!

Jack really wanted to get a pumpkin from the patch. He and Jason had picked some from "pre-picked" pumpkins on the back of the trailer, so he REALLY wanted to walk in the patch.

So did my mom...it's addictive looking at all the awesome pumpkins and thinking THEY ARE REALLY ONLY THREE DOLLARS!?!?!

Jack found his perfect carving pumpkin!

Sam and my mom found several, lined them up and decided on the three best.

Hmmm..what's this?  Why is my dad here? Why are the hoods of the cars up?

While at the patch, my mom's car battery died!  My dad had to come out and jump my mom's car!! Like I say several times..I don't make this stuff up!!!

While waiting for mom's car, Jack protected "The Chosen Ones" with a little dance.

around and around he went...

Sam decided to bring the Chosen Ones up to the car.

Jack had gotten a mini pumpkin and kept it close...even while getting a picture on the tractor!  In no time, mom's car was up and running and off we all went...away from the great battery draining pumpkin patch!
