Are you Ready for some Football....

Sam is on the Ankeny Jr. League football this year. Each year, ALL the Jr. football players, n Ankeny, get to storm the Ankeny football field for the first game of the season. (remember, there are over 8,000 students in the Ankeny school system.) Sam loves it! They kids make a big tunnel for the high school football players to run through and give them high fives. To me, it is mass semi-controlled chaos. This year, Jason is Sam's assistant coach, so he got to go on the field with Sam (I don't know who was more excited!)...of course I had to take a few pictures!!!

Junk in Use...

Wanted to share how I used some of my great finds from Saturday...

I hung this rack above my desk. I am using it for favorite pictures and items that I want to use in future projects.
The cheese box on the right holds my bingo cards and other ephemera (cool word!) that I like to use in projects. The old sewing box on the left holds other items that I use when creating...
This is a shot of my shelves when you walk into my scrap room. The fabulous red box sits on top , the round enamel bowl and a locker basket, which holds projects that I am working on or hope to work on sometime.
The red box hold stamping and some painting things...the bowl holds new purchases. (notice Jason, it isn't that full :)
I put the small enamel bowl on my desk shelf...holds the keys, dominoes, etc. that I got on Saturday.
When you come through the front door (which actually works, Janet!) the first room has three ladder shelves, which I can display junk! The first shelf has my grandma's old cigar boxes and a fun old winder clock. The second shelf has my fabulous knife thrower...otherwise known as the old typewriter. The last shelf has my other locker basket, which holds my mini albums.
I put the old scale in my kitchen along with one of the enamel bowls and an old jar.
On one side of my mantle I have old tins, a jar and the infamous Indy Jones nutcracker...who knew they had those..."Nanny (my mom) can find anything," states Sam.

Junk from Saturday...

My mom, sister and I went junkin' on Saturday. Here are all my fabulous finds and treasures....

Bought a gallon zip-lock bag with 200 vintage photos, or what we like to refer to as "instant relatives." Some great glass bottles that are in an old cheese box...loving those for storage (the cheese boxes!)
EEEEE...an old scale...isn't she a beauty!! Then some enamel ware bowls.
Another jar, bingo cards, old records and old patterns...I have a great idea with those! I am going to use the Rudolph record somehow during Christmas or in a Christmas book.

A close up of what little treasures are in the enamel cup...old dominoes, old bingo chips, spoons, keys (an absolute favorite thing right now) and "7" for the front of Sam's 7th year scrapbook.

Love this old box. It is perfect for....

storing things!!
A close- up of the small items. Wait until you see the keys after I polished them! OH! I forgot...locker tags!! I also bought 2 old gym locker baskets.
Tomorrow I will post how I have used all the things!!!

Can't Wait for More Junk...

In September, I am heading up to the Junk Bonanza in Minneapolis. It is three days of junkers selling their junk! Yippie!!!

Jack and I went to a small "flea market" that a friend suggested to check out. It had a few things, but I really couldn't dig due to Jack wanting to leave. Speaking of Jack, he found a great little piece for himself...an old school desk. Really cheap and he loves it!! A few "poses" of him with his good junk!

Move Away from the Buffet...

I was blow drying my hair the other morning. I was bent to the right, drying the right side of my hair. (like I was doing a side stretch - just want you to get the entire picture.) I was fully clothed, except for a t-shirt. (I put that on very last due to having to many last minute spills on my shirts. Again, I want you to get the full picutre.) Jack came in the room to talk to me. He looked at my right side and then he looked up at me and said, "Mommy, why do you have gills?"

Needless to say, I don't have gills. I did start to work out again.

Ms. Janet...

Just want to put out a "that a girl" to my friend Janet! I was doing important computer work and came across a blog called "Moved to the Mountains." I thought the cats on her post sure did look like Lilly and Tinsel (Janet's cats) and by golly...they were!! What fun to be asked "interviewed" for a blog!! Way to go Janet!!

To learn more about Janet and why she blogs...go to Moved to the Mountains to check out the bloggerview!!

PS - Once again, it goes to show me, I am no Janet.
