A House Update....

I haven't shared a house update for awhile, due to the fact that after the framing was done, the next two weeks was spent installing heating and cooling, electrical and plumbing. Not too exciting. After that was done, the dry wallers where brought in...improvement!!! Will share a few photos...
This is the hole to the existing house. Got to love the zipper door! It's interesting listening to the workers when they don't realize that I m standing on the opposite side!
I am now standing near the whole in the wall. These windows give us a great view of the woods and we have a fireplace to the left of the windows!
This is what you will see on the opposite wall. The stairs lead upstairs, a knick knack closet, and the doors to our bedroom area.
Our bedroom windows look out onto the woods the same way the living room window do. The bed will be placed where there is "wall space" between the two lower windows. I love all the windows!!
A quick look at the basement. I am standing against the back wall and looking into the "theater" area. The "hole" will actually have shutters that will open and close in order to make it completely dark in the theater. The long rectangle area is a pool cue holder. This is something Jason has always dreamed of having.
When you first walk down to the basement, this is the door to the theater area. The other door, on the right, is the bathroom.
For the first basement picture, showing the theater room, I was standing by the window on the right. This area will eventually contain a pool table. Yes, this is a man cave.

I am now standing by the windows again. The theater "hole" is on my right. This little corner will hold a card table. I am sure we will play a lot of crazy 8 with the boys at that table!

Back up the stairs...to the second floor!  MY SPACE!! This is my craft room! THIS is a space that I have always wanted!!! My desk will go under the skinny row of windows!

Looking to the right of the windows, there are two closets! The closet on the left will hold my crafting items. The closet on the right will be a work space/computer space for Jason. Yes, I gave up a little room for him.

We have decided that Jason will never leave his man cave and I will never leave my craft space. Thanks goodness for Skype and Facetime!!!

And outside...the three season porch is coming along nicely.

A view of the entire project from the back. Siding is almost complete, too!

A close up of the three season porch. There are two sets of doors. The set on the left goes into the existing kitchen, the doors on the right go into the new living room.

And this is what the zipper door looks like from our kitchen...nice!

I had to set up a little "office" area the other day. Had to do some computer work...the air conditioner workers were in the basement, the construction workers where working on the 3-season porch and the dry-wallers were upstairs. The only "peaceful" place I could find was in the living room! It worked.

I must say, our addition is the house that Jason and I have always dreamed of having. People asked how we came up with the addition layout, the truth is, we have always talked about what we would LOVE to have in a house someday. We would share ideas in magazines we saw, freeze commercials that may be on that showed something we liked, newspaper ads, magazines and say, "How cool would that be to have in our house someday!" I just have to say, it looks like our someday has arrived!

A Belding Christmas Story...

While on vacation, we just had to drive to the movie A Christmas Story house, located in Cleveland. it was great fun!

We purchased our tour tickets and walked across the street to wait for our tour.

The boys waiting for our tour!  If you look closely , you can see the famous leg lamp lit up in the window!

But let me back up...before going into the house, we took a little tour in the Christmas Story museum. These are the hats that Ralphie's friends wore during the scene where the boy puts his tongue on the frozen pole!

The chalkboard from Ralphie's classroom.

At the end of the movie, the family ends up eating Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant. These are the outfits the waiters are wearing in the scene, while singing to the family "We wish you a merry Christmas! RA RA RARA RA RA RA RA RA!" This scene just cracks my mom up!

Randy's Christmas morning pajamas.

I was super excited to see Randy's snowsuit.
Randy laid there like a slug

The robe that the mom wears on Christmas morning.

It was time for the house tour!
Do I even need to explain this one?

Hanging out in Ralphie's and Randy's room!

This is the desk where Ralphie wrote his class composition that his teacher will be so proud of and he will get and A++++++!

Jack trying out some soap!

Sam tried out the secret decoder ring.

Calling a fellow mom to report some inappropriate behavior of her child!

These are the steps that Ralphie came down wearing that bunny sit!

The creepy hats the elves wore at the mall!

"Jackie, show us how the piggies eat!"
Can you see the pink bib that Jack has on?
"Randy, show us how the piggies eat!"

Yum! A successful Christmas turkey!

I work hard over the hot stove cooking, while Jason reads the paper.

The backdoor to the house where Ralphie shoots his eye out!

A great family photo! I am wearing the scarf that Randy wore with his snowsuit, Jack has one of Ralphie's friends hat and is holding the Red Ryder BB gun!  Jason has the package that the Red Ryder came in, while Sam has on another friend's hat and the bowling ball that Ralph's dad got for Christmas!

What a fun adventure that afternoon!
Happy early Christmas to you and your family!
