Move Away from the Buffet...

I was blow drying my hair the other morning. I was bent to the right, drying the right side of my hair. (like I was doing a side stretch - just want you to get the entire picture.) I was fully clothed, except for a t-shirt. (I put that on very last due to having to many last minute spills on my shirts. Again, I want you to get the full picutre.) Jack came in the room to talk to me. He looked at my right side and then he looked up at me and said, "Mommy, why do you have gills?"

Needless to say, I don't have gills. I did start to work out again.

Ms. Janet...

Just want to put out a "that a girl" to my friend Janet! I was doing important computer work and came across a blog called "Moved to the Mountains." I thought the cats on her post sure did look like Lilly and Tinsel (Janet's cats) and by golly...they were!! What fun to be asked "interviewed" for a blog!! Way to go Janet!!

To learn more about Janet and why she blogs...go to Moved to the Mountains to check out the bloggerview!!

PS - Once again, it goes to show me, I am no Janet.

3, 2, 1...

Sam loves to take things out of the recycle bin and create projects. The other day, the boys made a space ship with astronaut helmets to go with their rocket. The funny part was, that our big green recycle bin was outside and it was raining. So the boys were getting pretty wet. So, they would come in, take their wet shirts off, put on a jacket, change their shoes (because telling them to stay out of the rain wasn't an option.) So they come in and I go tell them that they had enough stuff and to come out of the rain...well, all Jack had on was his boxers and his yellow rain boots.

"Jack, are you going outside in that?"
"Yea, it is ok mom. Nothing is getting wet."
That is because you have nothing on.
"Boys, it is time to come in."
Sam: "I think that is a good call, mom."
Sam is showing off his astronaut helmet and his map of space...I didn't even notice it was upside down! He is sitting in the rocketship. Thank goodness they have recycled water bottles and some tape (in the lower right hand corner.)

Jack didn't make a helmet. Instead he taped three boxes together to "rest" his arms in...I didn't get it either. Here he is looking through his "arm rester."

Asleep on Vacaton...

Vacation wore us all out and sometimes you had to catch some zzzzzzzz's when you could...
Like when you are at the water park in the lounge chair. (Actually, Jack fell asleep on the lazy river in Jason's lap.)
The boys would come back from the water park and hang out in their bedroom relaxing...
After the first night, Jack fell asleep on my lap while eating...he looked at me (with a fry in his mouth) and said, "I am tired," and then was asleep in about 5 seconds...
In the car, we would often look back and jack would be slumped over in his car seat...

Oops...

In Madison, the 4 of us stopped into 5 Guys (excellent burgers!!) for lunch. Jason ordered 2 large fries...so we could split them between the 4 of us. Sam is showing what 2 large fries looks like at 5 guys...just a brown paper bag FULL of FRIES!!!

Halloween Mini Book...

I have been working on samples and projects for Memory Bound. Here is a Halloween mini-book I made using the new my Mind's Eye line. I made the book out or two long paper bags folded in half. The bags are the size of the ones you get when you buy wine...hmmm, I could just buy wine and get a free bag, instead of buying the bags...The pictures are blurry, but you get the idea.

Monster Mix...

Made this "Monster Mix" container with the left over supplies I had from the My Mind's Eye collection. This was easy and fun to do...especially buying the Halloween candy. Well, not so easy when buying the candy, the boys wanted to do self check-out and scan the items on their own, which really doesn't work well, and I had to go to the bathroom...

I strategically placed the chocolate eyeballs..aren't they great. Glad I have enough candy left over to snack on when needed!!

It's Not Easy...

All I wanted was a picture of the boys...I just love the blue water background...Jack sure does not make it easy sometimes.
For this picture, I had just counted to three and Jack flopped his head into the water...
"That funny, Sam?" said Jack. Jack continued to flop into the water for two more tries...
Finally got a pretty good picture, but Jack is checking out the fine looking lady walking by Sam on the right...
This is a good one too. jack is looking, Jason is looking and Sam...well, Sam has lost his eyeballs. Guess the picture just wasn't meant to be.

Moose Jaw...

On vacation we ate at a restaurant called "Moose Jaw." We had seen their delivery cars (which I laughed at each time and pointed it out to the boys. Sam finally said, "Mom, we know they are out there.") and Jason wanted to see if he could have a ride in one of the cars...JK. The restaurant is three stories, so we had to check it out....it was fine...

After dinner, the boys got moose ears and so had to take one more photo..not sure who has a bigger grin.

"Mom, I think my moose ears are on a bit tight..."

Jack...

We went walking on some docks on vacation...it was so humid that you could stand still and still sweat. By the end of the walking, Jack only had on his shorts...I love this pictures that I got of him!

My Boys...

I am so excited...Jack is starting to look at the camera when we take his picture! Here are a few of the boys from vacation...

We rode the "Ducks" while in the Dells. The boys were both a bit nervous, but insisted that they sit together. At one point I looked over at them and saw them holding hands!! Isn't that the sweetest thing...(Jack did have a good time on the ride, even though in the picture he looks bored stiff.)

Go Karts...

There were Go-Karts at our hotel, so of course we had to head over to check them out. Sam was so excited, because he could drive one all by himself!!

I drove with Jack, who was not to happy about the Go-Karts, because he couldn't drive by himself. He wouldn't smile for a picture...big pouter!! They were fun, but I wasn't to hip on going in so many circles and some punk kid kept hitting my car which was clearly against the rules we were told at the beginning.

Sam loved it so much, that he wanted to go one more time before we left. So, on our last night, Sam primped up ("Mom, it is our last night here and I would like to look nice"..ok Rico Swavay!) and we headed to the track. Sam got right in his go-kart and took off. Unfortunately, after the first lap, there was a cloud burst and it started to POUR!! I thought for sure that they would have to take the cars off the track...water and oily streets do not mix and are very slick...and i really didn't know how much traction was left on thyose wheels!! But, they did not pull off the cars. Sam was way in the back and I really thought he was having car problems...but then he got off...

Poor Sam was SO mud splattered. His car wasn't having problems, he was trying to hang back so he wouldn't get more mud on himself!! When I saw him, I started to laugh...thank goodness he is so laid back!! So much for primping, Rico!!

First Day of School...

Yesterday was Sam's first day of second grade.(omg...sniff, sniff, etc.) He was so excited to head back, he loves school! He looks so grown up in these pictures!!
Love this picture of the boys...Jack dressed himself - how ironic that he came out dressed in the same colors of Sam (though Sam's shirt wasn't on backwards like Jack's)
Jack insisted on having his first day of school for Sam picture taken...practicing for senior poses??

Last Day of Summer...

Today Sam starts second grade, so yesterday we had to celebrate his last day of summer. We did so by going to Union Park. It is a fun little spray park and a carousel you can ride for only 50 cents!! Sam thought it was a great way to end the summer.
Once we found the place (I headed to Highland Park which is a part of the inner city) the boys headed to the rocket slide...see the little girl sitting at the bottom..that gives you an idea on how tall this thing is. Sam did his usual, "Jack! Do you want to go down the rocket slide?!"Jack, "YEA!" Sam, "OK, you go first, Jack." Well, Jack did , as always and he loved it. Sam eventually did head down after Jack.
After getting really grubby at the slide, due to kids pouring sand down part of it to go faster, we went over to the water fountain/splash pool. The boys had a ball...
The deepest part of the pool is 12 inches...so, though the water looks deep here, it's not. The boys could scrape their noses on the bottom if they weren't careful. They put on their goggles and spent at least 30 minutes..."going under water"? Sam just looks so nice and relaxed!

Our last stop was the carousel. Jack jumped on a horse (i think) and Sam rode the wild rabbit.

These "animals" are pretty high and this wild five year old boy was trying to mount the giraffe beside Sam. (there had to be at least 40 other empty animals on the ride, but wild boy chose the one directly by Sam) The kid would only get on so far and then he would actually flop off and land on the floor of the carousel (due to the giraffe being so tall!) At first it scared me, but, being so smart the wild boy did it about three more times. Sam and I just stared at him...his mom was aways behind us, yelling, "John, be careful!" "John, be careful!!" He was fine and finally did get himself on the giraffe and as soon as the ride began, what do you think that kid started doing...yep, trying to jump off the giraffe and of course his mom was yelling at him again...we only rode one time. It was a good last day of summer.

Water Park at the Dells...

We are finally back from vacation...went to the Wisconsin Dells..which is the water park of America. (yee...you all know how I like the water!) Well, I have lots of pictures to share, but I do not want to bore you all, so I will give you it in little doses. Jack summed it up about vacation..."I love vacation! All I have to do is swim and go to the bathroom!" and that is basically all we did...go to one water park...

... to another water park...

...to another water park...

...to another water park. What was the best, was that all these parks were right at our hotel. We were always in walking distance to our room...that rocked!!

Time for School...

It is time for Sam to go back to school. He has hit the "There's nothing to do," stage. I told him to find something in the closet to do..after suggesting that he go and wash the chocolate off his face - which he did not find very funny.
"There's nothing to do in here." (oh my word...I guess I should just throw out all that stuff!) "I mean that there isn't anything in here that I haven't already done." So I go into my pizza scenario...Have you had pizza twice? (yes) "So you can play with those toys more then once..."
He didn't like my pizza scenario. So this is Sam heading up the stairs...(hopefully to wash his face) Actually he was telling me, "Don't take my picture!"
"Stop taking my picture!" Is that a little smile I see and a clean face???

Last weekend, I went to a great store in the East Village called Found Things. Not only did they have great "junk" but I also came across these fabulous bags...I couldn't decide which one to get so I HAD TO get both...

A Quote...

"God created sleep so we can fall in love with them all over again..."

I read this quote and think it definitely applies to Jack... he would not go to bed last night and I was pretty frustrated with him...Finally, I went to check on him and found him like this....I fell in love all over again!
