I Have Been a Bad Blogger...

According to a few people, I have been a bad blogger.
Sam really let me know how disappointed he was in my lack of blogging.
Do you know you waited a WEEK between blog posts?
Do you know that you only blogged ONCE last week?
What is going on?

No excuses...I just haven't been blogging.
So, I will be putting up post at least three times a week to keep my Sam audience, happy!

Working on a post for tomorrow so make sure to check back!

Ouch.

Received an email from the school nurse yesterday letting me know that Jack fell at recess and his cheek was scraped up and had a small cut on his lip. She gave him an ice pack and he was fine.

After school, Jack got in the car...he was a bit more scraped up then I was excepting!

He actually fell against one of the hanging ropes, hence the look of rope burns on his face.

Jack had a baseball game last night and I told him that others will ask him what happened to his face.

He told me he was going to say, "I got in a fight."
"Oh...that wasn't really the answer I was expecting. I was thinking you might say..."
He filled it in again, "I got in a fight AND I won!"

"Jeepers, Jack! Do you think you can say anything else?"

He said, "Well, I guess I could say that I fell against a rope bridge."
Me, "well, at least that is the truth!"

Jack, "Not really. We don't have a rope bridge at school."

UGH!!!!

My New Favorite Movie...

I have a new favorite movie...
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty!

When I saw the trailers for this movie, I didn't want to see it.  The boys went and LOVED it! "Seriously?" I asked Jason. "Seriously, Katie. It's good."  So, for Easter, Jack scored the DVD of the movie and we all sat down to watch it. AMAZING!!

Water Mitty works for Life magazine, processing photos. Sean Penn is a photographer that works for Life and will have his negative #25 (yea, he still works with real film!!) as the last cover photo for Life. While Walter is processing the film, he finds that number 25 is nowhere to be found and that sends him on his journey. The message is wonderful, the scenery is breathtaking at times and there are laugh out loud moments. I highly recommend this movie!

One of the best lines in the movie,
" Beautiful things don't ask for attention."
And neither does Walter Mitty.

Drake Relays Part 2...

After our great mile runs on Tuesday, we headed to the Blue Oval on Friday night for Relays Under the Lights. It was an amazing night of running!
Opps...I forgot not to take their picture when they are looking into the sun. They quickly reminded me of that!

Off to the races...the first big one we watched was Lolo Jones in the 100 shuttle hurdles.
There she is getting her blocks ready. Thank you Lolo for wearing hot pink...easy to spot!

I took a lot of pictures of the race, but we all know her team won! Here's a "winning" picture of the group!

After winning the race the team took a victory lap around the oval. Sam and Jack got to high five them all! You can see that they just high fived Lolo!
The sports guy from TV 8 was taping the girls on their victory lap! When Jack came back to sit with me he announced, "I'm famous!! The TV guy got me on TV! I'm famous, mom!"

Well, fast forward to the ten o'clock news on Channel 8.  And wouldn't you know, there was Jack cheesing at the camera! Much more interested in getting himself on camera than congratulating Lolo!
What a goof ball!!!

Back to the races. We got to witness a record breaking high jump! The athlete jumped 7' 10 1/2" high. Can you imagine!!
I just happened to catch it!!

I thought this was a good picture showing how high the bar is actually set at. The judges are standing right below the bar! Amazing that someone can actually jump that high!

Sam and Jason a good night of track!

Jack and I cheering on the athletes!

Taking a selfie with the boys. I guess they are flashing the signal for "selfie." Interesting.
Back to the Races...Next up, the men's special invite 400. It was loaded, but our cheers were going to LaShawn Merritt.
This is Merritt after winning the 400. Just wanted you to see his face! Actually, it's the only picture that I have his face! (heehee)

Merritt won the 400m in the 2008 Olympics. He also won gold that year in the 4x400. His biggest challenger at that time was Jeremy Wariner.
And look who else was running the 400 on the blue oval...Jeremy Wariner!

Here is a photo of the winning 4x400m relay team of 2008. Merritt is on the far left and Wariner is on the right.

Merritt getting ready and what's this...is that a note with my phone number on it for Merritt? Oh, no. Not my number, just wishing him good luck! :)

And as you already know, Merritt won the 400! Here he is getting interviewed. Why would I include this picture? Because...
Here's me taking the above picture! Yep, even I got some screen time! If you squint it will be more in focus.

A little ice cream to top off the night and another great Relays in our pocket!

Drake Relays Part One...

It was a busy time last week and weekend with the Drake Relays.
No complaints, because the weather was amazing!!

We kicked off the relays by participating in the
Drake Grand Blue Mile and Fun Run for Jack.
Jason and Sam participated in the Grand Blue Mile.
Here they are prepping for the big race!

Jack did a few warm up laps in the skywalk!

My boys before their races.

Jack participated in the Iowa Kidstrong Run.
It was a 400 meter run straight down Grand Ave.

Jack's race actually turned out to be about 600 meters.
Can you spot him in his bright yellow tee?

Run, Jack, Run!!

He ran his little heart out!!

I was so proud of him!

Over the finish line in 2 minutes 30 seconds!
Actually, 2 minutes 29 seconds, but Jack rounded up.
Way to go Jack!!

After the race, Jack kept repeating, "2 minutes 30 seconds.  I can't breath. 2 minutes 30 seconds.  I can't breath, Mom."

After a bottle of water, a little rest and a free package of Goldfish, Jack was good to go and so proud of himself!
"I beat third graders, Mom!"
Yes you did, my little man, yes you did.
Now it was time to cheer on Jason and Sam running the mile!

Here they come!!

My only question...is it not cool to run near each other?

 Go, Boys, Go!!
Sam's lips are pursed together as he concentrates on his last few feet!

It's an all out sprint to the finish!!
I don't have any pictures of the finish line because one of the "judges/watchers" of the race stepped in front of my camera with this race and with Jack's race! UGH!!

My two "milers" at the end of the race!
Proud of both my guys!!

And even prouder of my runners in the family!
Did I run anything...of course not!
Who would have taken the pictures? (smile)

Moose and Her Friend...

The other day I went to let Moose inside and she had a friend with her!
"Do you think I can keep her?"

Well, you are awfully cute. Would you like to stay?

Moose showed her how to look outside from the screened in porch.

"Oops. I think I might have stepped on her. I am a bit bigger than her!" That wasn't an issue...they were off in seconds running around again!

I had to run some errands, so I took the little friend with me. We stopped at my parents house and she tucked herself in with my dad and took a nap with him! Such a good dog! I was starting to get a little attached!

So comfy!!
Such a sweetie!

What? You found my owners? Yea!!

While we had this little girl for the day, I did everything to find her owners. I took her to the vet to have her scanned to checj if she had a chip...no chip. (Get your animals chipped! You just never now!) I called other vets to see if someone had reported a missing dog. I also called animal control and they had some great ideas on how to locate the owners. The boys and I were out putting up signs and saw a gal walking around with an empty leash...she was out looking for her little lost dog. She was so happy to see her little lady.  I told her that she needed to get her dog chipped AND if this little girl showed up on our porch again, that I wouldn't bring her back..she was that good and Moose loved her!!
