Funny Faces...

Sam and I found taking pictures of ourselves much more interesting then watching the Alabama vs. Notre Dame game the other night.

(Excuse the no make-up look. I had just bought new facial scrub.  Yes a scrub..which if you know me, I should NEVER use anything with the word SCRUB with my super sensitive skin! I stressed my sensitive skin issue (yep another issue!) to the gal that sold me a 7 Day Scrub with the instructions that if i use more, there would be more "soap" then scrubbing bubbles and if I used less there would be more scrubbing bubbles and less soap.  Okay..so I used lots...all over my face.  And after rinsing, it was red and on FIRE!!! See how my cheeks have glow to them...NOT GOOD!)

I actually look as if I have a little color!

Check out how I was trying to cross both eyes, but could only get my left one to cross!

And then Sam could only get his left eye to cross!!

Picture taking was done...can you tell why by this photo?
I am saying, "GROOOOOSSSS!!" and Sam is laughing... at himslef!
Let's just say that Sam is just like his father!

Bad Haircuts...

The Friday after the blizzard, to pass some time, the boys went to get haircuts. We did not go to our normal person, but to a local $10 dollar joint.  Bad idea!!

Sam requested his normal buzz cut...can't mess that up.  Well, he came over after his haircut, face red and said, "I look like I have a swim cap on!"  and I must admit, it sure did look like he had on a swim cap. Add some blue dye to his hair and call him Micheal Phelps!

It looked as if the gal had actually put on a swim cap and cut along the edge of it...his hair was so rounded!  So I asked her if she could square it off...she did and cut pretty far into his hair line. The poor kid...I reassured him that he didn't have school for two weeks, it will grow out by then.  And it did....Where the gal had shaved into his hair line, in two weeks that hair had grown back and suddenly Sam was in desperate need for an "evening out."

Jason took on the "evening out" this weekend!  He also decided that Sam may want to change it up and try out a mohawk.

When Sam looked at his new do, he was a bit taken back!!  Check out how crooked Jason cut that mohawk!!

It's a good thing that Jason is a banker and not a barber!!
And it's a good thing Sam likes his hair buzzed ALL off!!

That Time of the Year...

After a long hard day at work on Sunday, I came home to these stacked in the gargae.

I guess Jason is ready to take down the Christmas decorations...that's subtle!

40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge...

Ali Edwards always chooses a "little" word of the year.  It is a word that you "focus" on for the entire year. I had tried it once, but forgot about my word. Then, the other day a friend posted on FB what her word of the year was and so I started thinking that I should choose a word for this year.

So I have decided that my word of the year is going to be "simple." I need to simplify my life in many different ways, but one place to begin with is with all the things in my house.

Well, I needed help with how to start this and then I remembered coming across a post  "40 bags in 40 days" last year and so I goggled the topic and came up with TONS!!

Here is a good motto to keep in mind:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Side story:
The whole idea reminds me of how my mom use to send me to my room with a large black garbage bag and told me that I couldn't come out until it was full.  Great idea!  This ritual started after she found worms in one of my dresser  drawers from the beautiful bird nest I had saved from the ground and  kept in a box!  Well ,when she sent me to my room,  I would stuff the bottom of the bag full of clothes that SHE liked and other items that I really didn't care for. But, towards the top of the bag, where she would look, I did get rid of some junk in my dresser drawers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, since I am older and wiser and do not keep old bird nests in my dresser drawers (reminds me, I should check out what Jack has in his dresser drawers!) I think i can take on this challenge. It is suggested that you either donate, sell or throw the items that you are no longer in need of.

There are so many different lists on the web to print off or be inspire by...here are a few samples:

So, I am going to take this challenge, but I will definitely have to "tweak" it to fit my needs and rooms. I must admit, some of the rooms, will take me more than a day (or the suggested 15 minutes!) and some of the rooms, I do not have....like a work out room!!  (thank goodness!) Guess I can just check that day off and call it good!

With a little more searching, I came across the following link to create your own list...and I love my lists!! Instead of making a list of what rooms I need to get done, I know 40 rooms on a list would overwhelm me, I think I will write down the room/places that I have actually cleaned out and then refer to others lists for ideas...make sense?

Wish me luck and I hope that I will actually do this...I know I would feel great about getting it done.

Now, I just need to figure out when a good day and time would be to start my cleaning!!
I will keep you updated (words of death!!!)

Skol Vikings!

Last weekend, on our mini vacation, we headed to the Vikings game on Sunday. This was the first Vikings game that the four of us went to together and what a GREAT game!!

Before heading to the game, we grabbed some lunch and took some pre-game pictures!

We then headed out into the cold tundra of Minneapolis and hopped onto a train to the stadium.

We had amazing seats and got there early enough to watch the teams warm up.  To all my Packers fans...Clay Mathews is in the gray shirt...what a cutie!!

Jack was super excited for the game to begin...or had too much sugar!

My boys!

We also got to watch AP warm up!

Cameras follow him everywhere!

Then Jared Allen came out to warm up near us!

Jason informed us that we all have to wear the EXACT same clothes for Saturdays game...and we CANNOT wash the clothes either! Ewww. Jason then shared that he had not washed his outfit for the last 4-5 weeks. Double ewww!!

Sam was on a mission to get his picture by the Cris Carter wall painting since he had his Cris Carter jersey on.  Jason bought this jersey for Sam when he was about 18 months old...he finally can wear it!!

This was what is was like to be a Packers fan towards the end of the game!

The cheerleaders posed for an end of the game picture??  Sam looked at me and said, "I wouldn't mind being down there!" UGH!!!

Well, tomorrow we will be watching what happens between the viking and the packers...while wearing our dirty clothes!!

A Mini Vacation...

We headed to Minneapolis for a fun filled mini vacation...I call long weekends mini vacations!

Our first stop (after waiting over 30 minutes to get into the parking lot!) was to the Mall of America and straight to the Lego store.  The entire mall was SUPER crowded (even for me a hard core shopper!) but the boys were determined to use the Lego gift cards they go for Christmas.

While walking around, "we" noticed the vikings cheerleaders in one of the stores. We walked on by and I asked Sam if he wanted to get his picture taken with them..."UH...YEA!"  Now, usually Sam will say, "I don't know, do you think I should?"  But not this time...is he growing up?

Jack didn't want to be left out of the whole celebration!

That night we headed to the Target Center to watch a Timberwolves vs. the Phoenix Suns NBA game.

Sam wore his Timberwolves and was called a trader all night by Jack...the Suns fan.

The Suns lost. Jack told all of us, "Even though you may not win the game, you still win in your heart." Deep.

Ouch...

On Christmas day, I was cleaning up the counter and picked up the GLASS jar that held all my silverware and it shattered in my hand. I felt the glass cutting into my poor little pinkie finger and thought, "Oh crap." I looked at my finger and the blood was coming out immediately.  Next thought, "Uh Oh..."

Now, if you know me, I cannot stand cuts that draw blood or especially ones that require stitches. I "go down," meaning, I must lay down on the floor with my feet above my heart and breathe deeply...and go to my happy place.

So, back to Christmas. When the blood appeared, I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around my finger and went out to where everyone was sitting. My mom jumped up instantly and said, "Did you cut yourself?" She is awesome like that...she knew even without my telling her!  Or it might have been that i was swaying like I was on a boat ready to capsize!! I immediately start to look for a place to "rest."  In the background i can hear my sister...

"and..."

"she....."

"is...."

"DOWN!"

She is awesome like that...calling out the play by play...just in case the family hadn't noticed me laying in the middle of the living room floor.

I then started the sweat thing...that cold clammy sweating.  Yuck. So I tell all, "I'm sweating!"  Mom asks my sister," Can you get her a cold wash cloth for her head."  Never fear Meg to the rescue!  She goes and gets a large, soaked hand towel and places it on my face...it's that large. (But I don't say anything, because Megan is distraught...she had lost one of her gloves right before I went down.)

Thank goodness my mom was/is a nurse and she immediately begins to tend to my wound.  Unfortunately, she begins to use words likes stitches and meat.

"If you need stitches, you would only need one or two."
"I am going to look to see if there is any glass in your finger."
"I am just checking if you cut into the meat."

I politely say, "Please don't use the word meat." But she doesn't hear me due to the large towel covering my face and she uses it two more times.

Meanwhile, Megan is in the background, "Has anyone seen my glove?"

In about 15 minutes, all is good.  I am bandaged up, Jason cleaned up the glass and silverware and Megan found her glove.

The next morning, I bumped my pinkie and it bled a little.
The night before, mom had shared that if the bleeding didn't stop, I would need stitches.
While holding a wash cloth to my pinkie, I thought,  "Wow. I have a cut that might have needed stitched..but it isn't"

Hmmm...I'm tough like that.
