Henry's Back!!!

Remember Henry from last year? Our elf on the shelf? Well he's back and watching the boys very closely! Jack is elated about the return of Henry and gets up early to find him each morning. Sam likes that Henry is around..but a bit suspicious about the whole thing.

Henry has a sweet tooth and enjoyed drinking syrup straight from the bottle!

He tee-peed our Christmas tree!

The boys thought this was the funniest thing!

He took a bubble bath in our sink. Just an excuse for Jack not to wash his hands!!

Henry decided to try his hand at shaving. Jack thought Henry was trying to impersonate Santa Claus.

Jack was a bit disgusted with the mess Henry left behind and asked for me to clean it up!!

Sleepy Heads...

Sam had a basketball tournament last weekend, which required us to get up before the crack of dawn on Saturday and Sunday.  On Sunday, Jack got up and went straight to Sam's bed and tucked himself. in to catch a few more minutes of sleep.  Sam didn't mind. It was so sweet!  I am lucky that the boys get along so well...for now!!

Sorry that the pictures are so blurry...I took them with my phone and it wouldn't focus in the dark. But if you squint your eyes and move back 2 feet, it looks somewhat in focus!!

She Gets Me Every Time!!!

When I sit down with a little food...

Moose looks at me with those big brown eyes..."Please, please..I haven't had any food for weeks...I can barely lift my head....I am so hungry...remember Tiny Tim?"  So, I must give her something...I don't want her to pass out!

And then this happens..."AHHH HAHAHAHAH!! I got you again!!!!"
(Seriously..these pictures were taken within seconds of each other!!)

December Daily Journals....

In November (yea...I was ahead of schedule!) the boys and I headed up to Memory Bound to create December daily journals for them to fill up with Christmas memories. (sounds like a Hallmark commercial!)

I am happy to report, they both got into the process of putting the journal together.

jack worked very hard to make his book into a pattern. (hmm...I wonder what they are practicing in school?!)

Jack with his finished project...

Sam with his finished project...

As all crafters do,I took a few close up pictures of their finished projects!  Sam's is on the right and jack's is on the left.

They used a variety of pockets and colorful Christmas papers.

Added a few envelopes to tuck some memories!

We used the cinch machine to bind the journals together.

All ready for loads of Christmas memories!
Life on December first is so happy and sugary...countdowns and journals just waiting to be completed! Life a week later is remembering to do the countdown calendars and begging the boys to PLEASE put something in your journal!!!

What Not To Buy My Kids....

I came across this letter and thought it would be the perfect way to start this wonderful holiday season...

Dear Friends and Family,

Ahhh, yes, here we go again. The most wonderful time of the year. For you. For me it’s more like let’s see how much more crap I can fit in my house until TLC comes knocking at my door because they think I’m an freaking hoarder. I know that you guys are about to pee your pants because you’re so excited about all the "fun things" you can buy for my kids this holiday, but not so fast. Before you whip out your Money/Target/Mastercards, check out this little list of “guidelines” I’ve made for you this year. The following is a list of presents NOT to buy my kids this holiday.

1. Anything alive. Because you know what happens to things that are alive? They die. And you know what sucks? Explaining to my kid why Fluffer Nutter the hamster is as hard as a rock and stuck in his tube. And you know what sucks even worse? Nutter living a healthy life for years and years to come. Because guess who has to clean his E coli-infested poop cage. Yours truly.

2. Stocking stuffers. Or as I like to call them, cheap pieces of crap. I get enough crappy stocking stuffers year-round for free. They’re called McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. Would you like fries with that? And how about a plastic piece of crap that was made in China and causes cancer.

3. Any toy that hurts when I accidentally step on it with bare feet. I don’t care if the ER doctor is George freaking Clooney. Getting Legos surgically removed from my heel is not worth it.
George Clooney(gratuitous hot guy picture)

4. Any toy without an off button. And you know what, I’m going a step further and saying any toy with an off button that doesn’t turn off IMMEDIATELY when you push it. You know the crap I’m talking about. You push the off button and it keeps on yapping, “Woof, woof! Thanks for playing! I’ll see you again later!” I pushed off. If I wanted you to keep talking I would have pushed the dissertation button. It’s like when you’re on the phone and you tell someone you have to go and they say okay but then proceed to ask you a thousand questions.

5. Any toy that requires me to play it with them. Toys are how I keep my kids busy while I’m trying to get important things done around the house. Like the laundry, and the dishes, and waxing my mustache, and pooping.

6. Barbie dolls. I know I’m supposed to be against them because they give my daughter a false sense of a woman’s body shape, but that’s not what I’m worried about. My kid has no sense of negative self-image yet.  Nope, I’ll tell you who doesn’t need to see hourglass Barbie bitches everywhere. Me. If I want to feel like crap about my body I just look in my full-length mirror. I don’t need a nine-inch plastic doll to make me feel like a
hippopotomushippapotamus(how the hell do you spell this word?!) hippo.

7. This toy.
Owl Puke You
Just in case this catalog came to your house too, don’t you dare buy this. I know it looks original and all, but I’ll bet this is the kind of crap Jeffrey Dahmer got when he was a kid. I can already picture it. First my kid will be playing with this, and before you know it he’ll be playing with the rabbit carcass, and then one day the police will show up to take what I thought was leftover meatballs out of my garage freezer but really it’s our babysitter’s head.

8. And speaking of carcasses, stuffed animals. To say we don’t need anymore is the understatement of the year. You know that game where there are a million stuffed animals in a big glass box and you have to steer the claw to try to pluck one out? Sometimes I feel like I live in that. One day I fully expect the claw to drop down through our skylight.
(this one is SO SAM!!!)

9. Talking dolls. For one, they creep me out. The way they talk without their lips moving like ventriloquists. Freaky. And here’s another reason I can’t stand them. Do you know what talking dolls say? Stuff like, “Mommy, feed me,” and “I wet myself Mommy. Time for a diaper change!” This is the kind of crap I already hear like 40 times an hour from my own kids, so why in God’s name would I want to hear more of that?

10. Horns, drums, cymbals, pianos, microphones, guitars, maracas, tambourines, bells, whistles, mp3 players, karaoke machines, sirens, rattles, buzzers, alarms, toys that beep, buzz, or have one of those annoying ladies who sings like she’s all serious and looks like my middle school guitar-wielding music teacher.

That’s it. Good luck out there!
Love and kisses,
Because I’m The Mom

Extremely Scary Ghost Elevator Prank in Brazil...

A friend shared this with me and I have watched it several times...I can't decided if it is just plain mean or one of the funniest things that someone thought of!! While watching, my friend and I couldn't decided what we would do if put in this situation...I do know that I would wet my pants and I am pretty sure i would try to pry open the elevator doors. Enjoy.....

One thing to remember is that the elevator doesn't ever move up or down...that is why the gal is able to listen to the people in the elevator.  Plus...that little girl is a good actor! She could be on Walking Dead!!

Putting Up the Tree...

Over the weekend we got the tree up and decorated...I don't mind putting it up, it's the taking down and putting away that gives me the willies!!!

Jack got a head start and unpacked all the ornaments...he hung them with care on the rung of the table.

The boys handed us the "puffed up" tree branches while Jason and I worked on getting the lights on well...(mostly Jason did the lights.)

Jack loves to put the star on the tree...

This is what it look like from far away!

As you can tell by Jason's face, Jack needed to hurry!!

Ta Da!!! Looks good jack!!

New Ornaments...

Each year, the boys get a new Christmas ornament.

This year, Jack got a Paul Frank monkey.

Sam got an Animal from the Muppets.  And Moose got...

Seriously Moose!!  I held up her ornament to get a picture and she tried to eat it!!!
Needless to say, we had to hang it up high on the tree!

Later, she laughed about trying to eat her ornament!
"Wasn't it funny when I tried to eat the ornament you gave me!!"

Christmas Pictures...

Since the weather was nice...the kids were "dressed up" for Thanksgiving and I had a person to take pictures (my sister) I thought it would be the perfect time to try to get a family Christmas picture!

This was a pose Jason suggested..seriously?? What???

Sam grew an extra arm out of his back to help keep him upright.

Ummmm....

This is how excited Jason gets for family pictures.

Yes, Jack thought this would be a good one!

A bit windy and someone drove down the lane and caught the all the boys' attention.

When we were almost done, I noticed that Jack had a bunch of gunk on his face!

We finally did get a couple pictures that worked for a Christmas card...but, it sure wasn't easy!!
