Sad Sunday...

Sunday was "one of those days."
The Vikings got beat. Sam's team got beat.  Jack's team got beat.
It just wasn't a good day for football.

The only "really" exciting thing on Sunday was that Sam got to be the captain of the team!
(We also discovered that when Sam is nervous, he plays with his mouth piece!)

He had some good blocks...

My dad asked me if I ever took pictures of the "not so good things."
Yea...but who wants to share those?
Then I decided after a day like Sunday...why not "share it all!" So here we go...

Sam did some holding....

He was double teamed successfully...

He missed a tackle...the other team scored...

and he spent some time on the ground.
There...now you have seen the good and the bad.
Boy, that felt good.  Yea. Not so much.

Football Sunday...Jack Style...

Jack had his first "official" football game (no dad on the field with him) on Sunday.

He lined up on defense and gave the other team his best football look...wow. very intimidating.

"Now tell me, why am I out here?"

I think Jack's coach told him to put his arms up to block the ball...

...and that is exactly what he did!

More arms...
Uh oh...shoe untied.  Only a mom would notice that!!

Jack...when they run a play, you have to move too....you can't be a spectator while on the field!

Now he has got the idea of what he needs to do...too bad it's the last play!
There's always next week!

The boys got new football shirts...such a difference between the two of them and I wouldn't have it any different!!

Football Sunday...

Football is in full swing at our house...high school games on Friday...Iowa State games on Saturday, Vikes on Sunday, but most importantly...BOTH boys play ball on Sunday!!

This year Sam plays tackle on offense and defense.
Which he really enjoys, but is pretty beat by the end of the game.

(A little defensive strategy being discussed)

He had some great tackles...it was fun to watch (and a bit scary!!)

I can always tell where Sam is lined up because he puts his left hand up when he "gets in position."

The other team hand to double team Sam at one point.

You can't see Sam tackling this guy...but it's his hand that is pulling on his jersey.

Sam spots his prey...

and takes him down.
(Oh my..I sound like "one of those football player moms!!)

This is what the lineman look like when the other team punts...pretty intense..huh!!!

Jack had his first "real" football game on Sunday, too...a little different, but still fun! Check in tomorrow for Jack's football pictures!

OH!

Jack was planning on having a cheese stick for a  bedtime snack.  He took his bath, brushed his teeth, read a bit and then lights out.  "Moooom...I forgot to eat my cheese stick!!" So I went and got him one...

Five minutes later I checked on the boys and discovered Jack had FALLEN ASLEEP WITH the cheese stick in his mouth!!  "OH!" I said.  I went and got Jason and told him to check out Jack...I had to go get my camera.  I proceeded to take a picture and then pull the cheese stick out of his mouth.  Not only had he fallen asleep with the cheese in his mouth, but also in mid BITE!!  When I pulled out the stick, I woke him up and had him finish eating the bite he was going to enjoy.  I then gave him a drink of water...to wash down any leftover cheese stick. He then looked at me and said, "I wasn't asleep."  I told him he could finish his cheese stick in the morning.  While walking out Jason says, "Wow, that was dangerous!"  Thank you Mr. Obvious!

A Football Album!

We spent our Labor Day weekend at the football fields.  Sam had his first tournament of the season.

I am so proud of myself..I actually loaded his football pictures, got them printed AND put into a photo album!! YEA ME!!!  This is Sam's "opening" page to his football album. I KNOW..I actually scrapped a page!!  I used the Fancy Pants Little Sport collection.  The color photos didn't match the paper very well, so I decided to print them off in black and white...much better!

I included the brackets in an 8 1/2 x 11 page protector.

These refill pages actually hold 3 horizontal photos and 2 vertical photos...LOVE THESE!!

I had a few photos left over from this game, that fit perfectly into a refill page that holds 3 horizontal photos.

I didn't take too many photos at the first game because I forgot my telephoto lens...So all the pictures looked like this one...teeny tiny players!  When I cropped the photos..the images became fuzzy.  The good thing about this though, is not having to deal with so many photos!!!

I used several of the vertical refill pages...

...and lots of horizontal photos.

I am hoping that I keep up this pace this year during football season...wish good luck to me!!

Turkey Watching...

What are these two watching so intently?

Turkeys!!
EVERY morning, for at least the last two weeks, these turkeys strut across our yard, over the lane, then cut over to the house and into the woods..in the exact same spot!! It's crazy!! There are about 12 turkeys that participate in this morning ritual. Moose goes CRAZY, so at this time, we "distract" Moose until the turkeys are safely in the woods...now the squirrels are a different story - they are on their own!

Following the Directions...

"JACK!!  You need to lay out your clothes for school tomorrow!" I yelled from my room to Jack in his room.

And he did...down to where his socks will be worn!

August Leftovers...

Here are a few happenings from August...

Jack worked on choosing a Halloween costume...he still hasn't made a decision.

Moose watching her boys...

Friends over to hang out!

Shopping at Staples with their cool new baskets!

Jack's teacher gave him a "Sweet Dreams" packet for the night before school...

Both boys sprinkled "sleep dust" under their pillows...

It really worked! :)

Sam doing safety patrol at school...bless his heart that he let me take this photo!!

Happy September!!!
