More Henry...

As you have noticed, I have not blogged for a bit...I had the flu. Now I am crossing my fingers that no one else gets it!!
My flu did not stop Henry from his watching of the boys!

He has made snow elves in flour...messy!!

He had a "reel"y good time spinning around on Jason' movie reel display.

He spent some relaxing time in Jason's chair with control of the remote and the ipad!

Played some cards with a big green monkey. "Are they playing poker?!" asked Jack.

Chilled out in the refrigerator.

And remember the Christmas beer that Jason giggled about...

...poor Henry!!

"Medical" Happenings...

I don't think these are all medical things...but close to it...

Sam lost a tooth. What drama that can be! A week before he lost it, he started to worry about losing it. Finally my dad told him not to let anyone pull it, just wiggle it with your tongue and it will come out.

One evening we hear a scream from the bathroom...honestly, for a brief moment, I just sat there and thought, "Now what?" Well, Sam came tearing out of the bathroom..."I JUST SUCKED OUT MY TOOTH!" Yes, he did not pull it, but sucked it out...literally. It was so loose that there was no blood...thank heavens!

Last week, Jason has a procedure on his knee...he tore his meniscus and they cut part of it out. Here we were waiting for him to go into the "room."  Jason said, "I am surprised that you haven't taken a picture of me."  I responded, "Well, I do have my camera, would you mind?"  The drugs must have been good, because he even smiled for the photo!

He was laid up for a few days, but nothing that a dairy Queen Blizzard couldn't fix!!

His leg isn't really that tan...it has iodine all over it (I think.) The wrapping on his knee is actually a mechanical ice-pack. there is a machine hooked to the tubes that constantly runs cool water (43 degrees) through the wrap to keep his knee from swelling.

Oh...and then my mom.  She was lucky this day.  We were Black Friday shopping and Megan was finishing up with some purchases.  Mom and I went to sit down...couldn't find a chair, but mom found an abandoned wheel chair to rest herself!! She was so happy!!

A Birthday Party..

Last weekend, we had the family over to celebrate my dad's birthday...

I think this is one of my favorite photos of my dad and the boys.

I can just hear my dad, "Katie, I shouldn't have to deal with this...I already dealt with all this when you were growing up."

As my dad opened his presents, Jack proceeded to stuff all the wrapping paper and tissue paper in his shirt. this picture also cracks me up...my dad just opening presents like it's no big deal that Jack's stomach is getting in his way.

"What are you looking at Grandpa?"

Sam got a hold of a few stray pieces of tissue paper and announced he had nose and ear hair...

And then proceeded to shoot them out...(sorry if this grosses you out.)

Jack put small pieces of tissue in his nose and then got worried they were stuck..he asked Sam to check his nostrils out...

Then it was time for cake and singing...We challenged my father not to move his arm through the entire happy birthday song. as you can see by his face, he wasn't sure if he would be able to handle that challenge. We still went ahead and lite the store bought cupcakes with the one candle, we could find in the cupboard that wasn't pink, and sang him happy birthday.

The boys really go into the song...kind of like southern church rendition with clapping and repeated verses!

Go Jack Go!!!

"YES!!" yelled Jack as his big finale...and dad didn't move his arm once!!
Overall, it was a great night with typical Belding touches!

Henry's Happenings...

Our elf, Henry has been busy, but nothing too exciting...yet.

He was "taken over" by a group of nutcrackers.

He played Sam's DS while...drinking? (seriously Jason??? "It's a Christmas beer," he explained.)

He also learned that not all toys play nice...

Henry has eaten Jason's cookies and he has also been in the shower, but thought it wouldn't be appropriate to show that photo!

He also had to write Sam and Jack about their behavior one day.

Dear Sam and Jack,

Santa was sad to hear some of the things I had to report to him. I had to tell him that I heard the two of you fighting a few times yesterday. He was also sad to hear that jack didn’t clean up his room or put away his clothes when his mom asked him to. When I told him these things, Santa was surprised to hear them because you two have always been on the nice list. He told me to tell you he knows that today will be a better day and I will have good things to share with him tonight.

Your elf friend,

Henry

When the boys told us that Henry had written them a letter, we asked them what it said.  Jack said, "I can't remember.  It was too long."  So Sam informed us, "He told us that we weren't very good.  But, as least I wasn't mentioned by name like Jack was!"

Monday Moose...

People have been asking about Moose, so I thought I would give a quick update...
She is doing awesome!! I would say she is about 85% healed at this time. She can go up and down the stairs and she is now sleeping upstairs with us again...she is so happy! She still walks with a little limp, but that is expected at this time. She still cannot go for long walks, only 5-10 minutes ones. We go to the doctor for a check up this week and hope that she can begin to do more normal dog things..such as chase the ball. At this time, she can't stand for an extended period of time or her leg begins to ache.  She is sore after a bath, so she hasn't had one in some time...I think she is okay with that, but the people around are soon going to have a problem with her...scent!!

The boys slept in sleeping bags by the Christmas tree the other night and left their sleeping bags out. Moose curled up in them as soon as the boys were out!!

I think this could be Moose's Christmas card!!
(you can see her little leg that she can't bend. it is always right by her head.)

I don't know how she did this, but she got herself all snuggled in one day!!
You can see that most of her hair has grown back on her leg...looks so much better!

Our Elf...

We have an Elf on the Shelf this year. If you are not familiar with this little guy, basically the elf comes to your house and watches you all day. then at night, he flies back to the North Pole and reports to Santa on how your day was. One rule, kids cannot touch the elf. If a child does touch the elf, he may lose all his magic flying powers and have to stay at the elf hospital in the North Pole...

Here is where our Elf landed on the first day...waiting for the boys to come and eat breakfast.

Well, that morning, the boys also started their lego advent calendars. Sam brought his to the counter to build. He did not see our Elf and proceeded to sit on him all during breakfast. This is a picture of Sam with his new lego, but at the same time, it is a picture of him sitting on our Elf. When the boys FINALLY saw the Elf, Sam was MORTIFIED! His face flushed and he looked at me and whispered, "Did I kill him?" I reminded him that the Elf doesn't have any magical powers until it has a name...that seemed to save Sam a panic attack. Our Elf's name is Henry.

Each day when Henry gets back back from the North Pole...before dawn, he finds a new place to hang out.

It has been pretty easy to spot Henry each day.

Henry was all tucked in Sam's bed the night we didn't have any electricity!

I have a feeling that it will become a bit more difficult to find Henry and he may get into a little mischief!!
I will keep you updated!

Scrappy Saturday...

This really isn't a scrappy day, but it is a crafty day!!

For thanksgiving, the boys made turkey boxes that held bags of "harvest" mix. We got the kits from Memory Bound.

The boys really enjoyed putting them together and they were easy too!!
A box template, three flowers for the tail, a square for the beak and a leaf for the "gobble" and you have yourself a turkey!

The boys then made place setting cards to go along with the turkey boxes.
(Sam isn't quite awake this day!)

A few of them were personalized..so to say!

Our guests loved the turkey, harvest mix and especially the place setting cards!

The Relish Tray...

Each year, my sister is to bring the relish tray for Thanksgiving dinner.
Well, she brings the relish AND the tray, but has the boys put it together!!

I am not sure what Jack is doing in the picture, but I am more concerned with Sam in the corner. I think he might have just snorted and olive up his nose!!

And it looks pretty uncomfortable...

Jack tries some pepper juice.
Check out the heaping "relish" tray!

Then we might as well try some pickle juice...

I don't think he liked it.

And yes, we actually ate off that relish tray.
